The Crossroads 1
Added to Kalimdor category.
Description: Ah, The Barrens, what a place to be during the first years of World Of Warcraft. If The Barrens chat was not enough, we had daily Alliance raids our small Crossroads village, killing all lowbies while a few fled to ask for help, good times. I wanted to create a screensaver that captured your attention with bright colors and good ambient sound with music. This animated World Of Warcraft screensaver is designed to do just that. I’m happy with how it turned out and love the colors. Suggestions? Comments? Need help? Leave a comment below or contact us!

I seem to have some issues with this one… the animation is slower than in the preview, and there is no sound at all, nor is there a Sound tab within Settings…

Hi peanut,
I’m assuming your computer is not able to handle the higher end flash animation. What is your cpu spec?
My computer is a quad core 4 gig computer with a dedicated 8800gts 512 ram EVGA gfx card ( x 2 ) so it’s a pretty high end computer and nothing slows it down

No, I don’t have a high end computer, but I don’t think that’s the problem since the animation works fine on other PCs with similar performance I’ve seen.
I have an Athlon 2400+ (2 GHz) and an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 gt vid card (256 mb); plus, a singe gig of RAM.
Yeah, it’s very weak. But it should handle the screensaver, shouldn’t it?

Hi peanut,
The animation will always “work fine” but it will be slow and choppy due to your computer not being able to handle the kbps the flash file delivers. Trust me, it’s your computer’s hardware. I would say minimum you want is a Pentium 3.0ghz with 2 gigs of dedicated ram and if you have a dedicated graphics card it’s even better.
Cheers.

And I still don’t get why there is no sound on this Crossroads screensaver. While the animation issue is there with almost all other screensavers, this is the only one which doesn’t run the sound.
Could I’ve done something wrong at installation?
Thanks anticipated.

Thanks!
I guess I’ll have to upgrade my spec, I’ve been wanting to for a long time.
Anyway, ultimately, does this screensaver here have sound&music or not?
The preview has sound, but the version is 1.0, and it doesn’t play any sound on my screen.

Hi peanut,
I just realized the download was bugged and was still downloading to a branched out old version of the screen saver that has no sound, just animation. I have fixed the bug and it is now pointing to the correct branch of the screen saver *version 1.5* which includes music and ambient sound. If you install this version it will automatically overwrite your older one and add the new sound feature. You can always turn off the sound within the settings tab if you wish. Sorry about that
I hope you enjoy the screen saver even if it’s slower due to a older computer. If you ever do upgrade you will fully enjoy the rich smooth animation it’s designed to provide!
